Getting to Camp

As we plan for the summer, we would like to share information about the options available to you as you make travel arrangements to and from camp for your child. Please read this section and review the information entirely and carefully.

Please review the link provided here to read more information about flying to/from camp. The link to approved nonstop flights is embedded at the end of the document. Please note that the airlines may have changed flight numbers and times. Campers coming from the West Coast, Canada, and other international locations will arrive on Monday afternoon (between 2pm-4pm) to Charlotte Airport. Campers coming from Texas have this option as well. Parents will receive an email with specific instructions in upcoming days.

Please adhere to our arrival and departure windows below:

Airport                                     Arrive (Tuesday)                     Depart (Sunday)

Asheville AVL                            10:00am – 2:00pm                     8:00am – 1:00pm

Please indicate on the travel form if your camper will be flying with the airline’s Unaccompanied Minor service. If you or another adult will be flying with your camper to/from camp and need to be met in the airport, please notify us via email at 6PointsOfficeManager@urj.org to plan accordingly.

We understand that air travel can be stressful for you as a parent. If you have any questions or concerns, our Assistant Director Zoe is here to assist you.

By Car

In an email later this spring, we will share specific arrival day times, policies, and procedures. Camper drop-off will be from 9:30AM-11:00AM. Parents will remain in the car for the entirety of the drop-off process (except for a hug and kiss goodbye).

On your child’s last day of camp, pick-up is between 9:00AM-10:30AM.

Luggage

We strongly recommend using bags with wheels and encourage you to only bring two bags per camper (not to include equipment bag or backpack). Luggage can travel with your camper, but you are welcome to ship it to and from camp! This will ensure that your child’s luggage is waiting in their room when they arrive at camp.

Families whose campers are traveling by car will be able to drop off their bags with our staff when they arrive and pick them up for departure. If you are in Asheville the day before camp opens, we ask that you drop your child’s luggage off at the front gate on that Monday between 4-6pm.

Campers arriving by bus or by air will be able to put their bags on the bus. All luggage will be loaded and unloaded with assistance from our staff.

No matter how your camper is traveling, please assist us by assuring that your camper knows what their bags look like and that their name is legible on their luggage or luggage tag.

We’re excited to share that ShipCamps is returning as our trusted baggage shipping partner! Shipping your camper’s baggage ensures a smoother arrival and departure day for both your camper and our staff— just register, pack, label, and they’ll handle the rest. With premier customer service and complimentary insurance coverage, we are taking the experience of shipping luggage to/from camp to the next level. Luggage registration opened on February 3! You can access ShipCamps by clicking here.
