An Inspiring Day with David Blu

By Brian Mitchell, Director

The 6 Points Sports CA community was very lucky to have former professional basketball player David “Blu” Bluthenthal visit camp this week.  David is an Israeli-American who was born and raised in the Los Angeles area where he became a standout player at USC. He continued on to play professionally in Israel and in Europe, winning multiple Israeli and EuroLeague championships. He is considered to be one of the top three-point shooters in EuroLeague history.

David spent time with the basketball major, running drills and practice, and visited the other sport majors, as well. This summer our theme is “Kaizen”, which means constant improvement and David’s message focused on hard work, dedication and grit to all of our campers and staff.  Camper Alex B., a basketball camper, was inspired by David’s visit and vision, saying “I really liked the way he was real, and told the story of his career with the real ups and downs.   It wasn’t like a fairy tale, but more realistic about what he had to go through to get to where he ended up.”
