Opening Day 2010

Nate Vaughn

Tuesday was the opening day of the URJ’s 13th summer camp. We at the 6 Points Sports Academy would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to everyone around the country who worked on our behalf to make this dream a reality.

Tuesday was the fulfillment of many things, but the beginning of so much more. Yesterday, the campers began their sport activities. Each camper participates in a major and two electives: everything from swimming to tennis, basketball to rock climbing, sailing to soccer. And they’re having a blast with it. The Head Coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and skilled at their sports. The counselors are full of ruach and energy, and of course, we all feed off of the enthusiasm which the campers bring to the table. If the first couple of days are any indication, it’s going to be an amazing summer. This morning, everyone is waking up from a well deserved good night’s sleep in camp’s beautiful dormitories. We’ve got another full day of sport, competition, and growth ahead of us. Again, thanks from everyone at camp for all the love and support shown for the past year and a half. As a way of expressing our gratitude, below is an inspiring video of our first Shehecheyanu as a camp. Hours into camp saw campers, counselors, and coaches swaying arm in arm.
