“Shavuot commemorates the giving of the Torah atop Mt. Sinai, signifying the sacred covenant between God and the Jewish people…the evening of Shavuot itself is a time of preparation for re-living the moment of revelation, and the entire Shavuot season is a time of reengage with Torah.
It has been said that the entire Torah exists to establish justice. Thus, through the study of Torah and other Jewish texts, Shavuot offers us an opportunity to recommit ourselves to Tikkun Olam, the repairing of the world.”(reformjudaism.org/social-justice-shavuot)
To date we have raised $2,290 & sold 218 shirts.
Thank you to everyone who has already supported our summer 2014/5774 Tikkun OIam project.
Here is an opportunity for you join our campers to repair the world. Each session the campers will celebrate one Shabbat participating in a 5K walk/run to raise awareness and funds for a local food security program, Out of the Garden Project. They do many different programs to fight hunger in the local Greensboro, NC community, including filling backpacks with nutritious food for students, who otherwise would not have enough to eat at home, and a food mobile into communities with severe food insecurity.
Our fundraising campaign closes in 4 short days! Please help us reach our goal by Thursday, June 5th, to sell a minimum of 250 shirts to fight hunger! We are raising funds through an on-line t-shirt campaign @ booster.com/6pointstikkunolam.
Note: If you are attending session 1,
please feel free to ship your t-shirt to camp @
